Bundaberg SHS - As Student Services HOD my role involved implementing strategies for inclusive education for the welfare of our student body. This involves collaborating with and supervising Behaviour Support Staff, School Based Health Nurse, Youth Support Officers from outside agencies, School Chaplains, Participation officers, School Police Officer, the Indigenous Support staff and the Guidance Officers to ensure socially just practices are embedded into daily school life for the social and emotional well being of the student body.
In a school of 1350, this role included Administration tasks such as the school vaccination program, overseeing programs and budgets and behaviour management tasks.
All elements involve the development of partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.

Head of Department - Middle School Curriculum (Years 7 - 10), Rosedale SS
Rosedale SS is a small rural school of 260 students. My role was to oversee curriculum reform to ensure teachers were implementing best practice. This involved knowledge of all curriculum areas in Junior Secondary and working closely with the 20 teaching staff.
The role also involved overseeing the behaviour management of Junior Secondary students, co-ordinating the Year 7 transition to Junior Secondary, working with Central Qld University in their Widening Participation Program and implementation of National Literacy and Numeracy exams.

As Student Services HOD my role involved implementing strategies for inclusive education for the welfare of our student body. This involved collaborating with and supervising Behaviour Support Staff, School Based Health Nurse, Youth Support Officers from outside agencies, School Chaplains and the Guidance Officer to ensure socially just practices are embedded into daily school life.
With only 2 Deputies in a school of 950, this role included Administration tasks such as the school vaccination program, interviews of senior students about their pathways and progress, and behaviour management tasks, including case management of 100 students.
At North, Senior Schooling responsibilities are included in this role: Co-ordinating School based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, organising TAFE courses for Senior students on Vocational pathways, co-ordinating and monitoring Work Experience for students in the Senior school.
As part of the Queensland Government’s Education and Training Reforms, Student Education and Training Pathways (SETP) was introduced to the curriculum. At North, Student Services administers the program – internal training of staff to implement the course, overseeing resource develop, facilitating the final interviews with Year 10 students and their parents to ensure students are planning, and committed to, their educational and training future.
After recognising the need to change the culture of the student body’s attitude to bullying, I created and lead the Better Buddies anti bullying program, embedding socially just practices into daily school life. This program won the Queensland Division of the Australian Safe Schools Competition.

Bundaberg North SHS - In this position I was heavily involved in the daily running of the school – behaviour management, working with students and parents, school photographs, Parent-Teacher meetings, and assisting the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared vision based on the Queensland Education Department’s “United in our Pursuit of Excellence Agenda for Improvement.”

Bundaberg North SHS - As SOSE HOD my role involved working with and supervising 16 teachers across Junior SOSE, Senior Geography, Legal Studies, Economics, Modern History and Ancient History. By collaborating with year level and curriculum teams, I led the evaluation of teaching units and practices to continue the establishment of high quality teaching practices and consistent pedagogical practice. This role included leading the Year 12 Verification process.

PEP Co-ordinator, Bundaberg North SHS
Bundaberg North SHS - PEP is a program designed to re-engage at risk Year 9 and 10 boys at North. The behaviour of these boys has resulted in them being withdrawn from mainstream classes to improve them academically and socially to be better citizens, ready for the workplace.
I created and coordinated the program, leading 5 staff and collaborating with Administration, Parents and outside Agencies to ensure quality outcomes and improved attendance of these boys.
